The Aspect of Crow Trilogy: A Personal Review

I'm currently re-reading The Aspect of Crow Trilogy for the third time. This story just draws me back, time after time, which I think is an testament to how great I think these books are.

Since it's pretty obvious that I adore Jeri Smith-Ready's trilogy, I want to share out my enthusiasm since I think readers are more familiar with her more recent work, rather than this gem she created in her earlier days as an author. This series alone promoted Jeri Smith-Ready onto my list of favorite authors...and it's not easy to make that list!

My favorite thing about this trilogy are the characters that Jeri Smith-Ready brought to life; they become friends. When the characters are happy, sad, mad; the author makes you feel all of that right along with them. I have definitely shed a few tears and shared some laughs with these characters.

I really enjoyed reading Jeri Smith-Ready's Aspect of Crow Trilogy. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world full of magic, romance, action, betrayal, and suspense.

The author transports her readers to another time and place and introduces them to various fascinating cultures (imagined, of course) infused with spirit animals and magic. Each member of this society is chosen by their spirit animal as they come of age and that person exhibits qualities of their respective animal in the form of magical powers.

The trilogy is a continuous story following the main character, Rhia, and her family and friends as they come into their powers and face trials and tribulations as they grow into adults. I really liked this aspect of Jeri Smith-Ready's storytelling technique since a lot of stories only focus on one period in a character's life rather than following them throughout.

Overall, I would say this story is a captivating, page turner; one of those stories you just can't put down. I love stories that offer an escape into another world and this one definitely does not disappoint!
