Do You Have a Favorite Recipe You Like to Make for Parties?
1. Healthier Spinach & Artichoke Dip
Have you ever had Applebee's Spinach & Artichoke Dip? If so, you'll know as well as I do that it is DELICIOUS and one of my favorite appetizers to order. However, when I looked at the nutritional info, I almost fell over.
My fiancé and I usually share the appetizer at Applebee's. Between the two of us, we eat the whole thing!.. So, dividing the appetizer in half, Applebee's Spinach & Artichoke Dip contains 750 calories and 50 grams of fat...WOW.
So, that being said, this recipe for Healthier Spinach & Artichoke Dip is by no means completely healthy, however, it is much MORE healthy than the original. I recommend serving Baked Tostitos Scoops with it to keep this treat healthy as well. This recipe tastes AMAZING and the lower fat dairies don't take away from the taste at all. (See below for Nutrition Facts)
I tried this recipe out for a Girl's Weekend and got rave reviews! Instead of baking, it was much more convenient to put it in a mini crock pot, which worked just as well!
Ingredients
- 1 box frozen chopped spinach--defrosted
- 1 (14 oz) can artichoke hearts packed in water (not oil)
- 8 oz reduced fat cream cheese--softened
- 1 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese
- 8 oz low fat sour cream
- 2 tablespoons reduced fat Kraft mayonnaise with olive oil (not fat free)
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Start by letting the cream cheese sit out until it becomes room temperature. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Drain the can of artichoke hearts, rinse, and mince them into small slivers. Set aside and let them dry.
- Defrost the frozen spinach and squeeze all excess liquid out.
- In a large bowl, mix the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, mozzarella cheese, pepper, and garlic. Add the spinach and minced artichoke hearts. Mix well until ingredients are fully combined.
- Choose an 8 inch baking dish or 9 inch round glass baking dish and spray with cooking spray. Pour the mixture into the baking dish and bake until mixture is hot and bubbling, about 30-35 minutes. (Putting the dip in a crock pot on low for a party when it will not be eaten right away works great as well as a substitute for baking.)
- Then, serve with Tostitos Baked Scoops.

Are you searching for a crowd pleasing, yummy, yet health conscious recipe for your next gathering? Look no further! This Ranch Bacon Cheese Dip is guaranteed to get oodles of compliments!
If you are someone who enjoys a salty treat, this treat is for you. Depending on your preferences, you can modify the saltiness of the recipe by changing up the amount of Bac-Os you add. That's one of the nice things about this recipe for Ranch Bacon Cheese Dip. You can play with the ingredients until it is perfectly to your liking!
I make this recipe every year for Christmas, by request. It's the perfect appetizer to set out and let your guests munch away. I prefer to serve it with Baked Ruffles Potato Chips, but pita chips, bagel pieces, or crackers would also be great.
Ingredients
- 16 oz Reduced Fat Sour Cream
- 1 - 4.10oz Bottle of Betty Crocker Bac-Os
- 3 Cups Reduced Fat Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1 Packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dips Mix
Instructions
- Start with a medium sized mixing bowl or a medium sized plastic container that has a cover if you will be transporting this recipe.
- Add the sour cream and packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dips Mix and stir until powder is dissolved.
- Set aside 3/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix in the remaining 2 1/4 cups of cheese with the dip mixture.
- Pour half of the bottle of Bac-Os into the dip mixture and stir until all ingredients are well combined. (If you would like this dip to be less salty, you can cut back on the amount of Bac-Os you add)
- At this point, if you are mixing your ingredients in a mixing bowl, you will want to transfer the mixture into a serving bowl. Smooth the top with a spoon to create a flat surface. Then simply take a napkin and wipe the inside sides of the container just above the dip to create a clean look.
- Sprinkle the remaining Bac-Os on the top. (You don't have to use the entire rest of the bottle, just so that the surface is covered.
- Next, sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese on top as well.
- Refrigerate for a half hour, then serve! YUM! (It is OK to refrigerate this dip for longer, however, it will be come thicker, which sometimes can cause chips to break while dipping.)
- I like to serve my Ranch Bacon Cheese Dip with Baked Ruffles Potato Chips, but you can use chunks of bread or crackers, as well.
